E 'failed this morning the launch of NASA's Glory satellite that was to follow the evolution of aerosols in Earth's atmosphere and pollution from nanoparticles.

The carrier, a Taurus-XL, is a regular party at the scheduled time, the 1009:43 UTC, from Space Launch Complex 576-E of the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California , and has performed well throughout the first part of the mission, but to failure was the separation of the fairing, the cone shaped cover that protects the payload by crossing the dense layers of the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the lack of separation of this part of the carrier's heavy load, to prevent the achievement of the orbital velocity and thus lead to destructive re-entry into the atmosphere. It is estimated that the load (or what's left) is precipitated in the South Pacific and even Antarctica.
Beyond Glory were 3 other small satellites:
- Explorer 1 First, a cubesat which was to study the Van Allen belts
- KySat 1, which was a picosat be available to schools
- Hermes, a cubesat to study the performance of communications cubesat same
This defect was introduced nearly identical two years ago, when NASA lost another satellite, OCO (which was to study the distribution of 'carbon dioxide in the atmosphere), which has suffered the same fate of Glory just starting on the same type of carrier.
