FRIDAY' HOLY - I "Fugliamari"

During the year, during the hours when the door of the majestic sanctuary is closed, one often sees devotees kneeling in the step-in praying intensely, almost as if they saw the crucifix, and someone who praises him crying for grace received. Sacramento, e tutto si conclude con la "ladata" davanti la porta principale del Santuario che viene chiusa dopo la benedizione del sacerdote. Il ritrovamento del Santo Crocifisso non è un fatto leggendario ma reale la cui testimonianza si tramanda di padre in figlio tra gli abitanti di Caltanissetta.
Il piccolo Crocifisso è stato, infatti, ritrovato in una grotta, tanto tempo fa, tra due candele, delle quali il fumo é stato ritenuto responsabile dell'annerimento del corpo di Gesù, da alcuni "fogliamari". In antichità i fogliamari erano coloro che raccoglievano le verdure selvatiche per poi venderle e mantenere con i soldi ricavati le loro famiglie che a quel tempo erano molto numerose. La particolarità della loro raccolta era, tuttavia, il fatto che essa avveniva accompagnata da una sentita ladata al Signore. Ancora oggi, per tradizione, i fogliamari, durante il periodo quaresimale, si recano nelle campagne per raccogliere ciò che la natura regala loro e ladano in siciliano stretto la Passione di Cristo.
