This event is one that has more recent origins of the entire Holy Week Caltanissetta, it just goes back to the '70s, but despite his young age is followed by a large number of the faithful, and is certainly destined to be passed down over time.
On Easter morning, good 'now, members of the Real Maestranza find themselves in front of the Cathedral where, accompanied by a band, set off for the bishop's seat in Viale Regina Margherita, to accompany the Bishop the celebration of Easter.
His departure was announced by the Bishopric by a blast of trumpets and, after exchanging greetings with the Captain, the Bishop greets the Maestranza. Soon after, with the mayor and the aldermen, it will go in procession to the beautiful Piazza Garibaldi.
That Easter Sunday is the shortest route between the processions of Holy Week. In this procession, the Captain will appear for the 'last time with the typical eighteenth-century dress. Bring socks, tie and white gloves, as well as the shield, spears, flags and patches are surrounded by white ribbons as a sign of celebration.
During the mass resurrection of all the flags, a symbol of the ancient craft categories, are solemnly lined up behind the altar. At the end of Mass, the Captain returns to the mayor the keys to the city as a sign of the conclusion of Holy Week, while outside, the sounds of bells and firing of firecrackers, are freed of white doves, symbolizing peace.
The simplicity of this ceremony, breaking the spell, which lasted seven days of Holy Week.
It need another year before trying again the same emotions, and bring back the magic, always renewed, of the seven best days of 'year in Caltanissetta, that of Holy Week, by returning a past that, after many many centuries, never seems spent. The Vare
lie inanimate and lifeless in their store, the spears and flags, the shield, the banner of the Real Maestranza by that same afternoon will remain in a warehouse between the lost city streets or in a closet.
Every man is now involved again in the endless vortex of their daily lives, but one certainty: Holy Week will revert back to us again unite, pray for us, to return within us' s pride maybe some time we can no longer find: that of being Nissen.
